Okay, as I promised last night..... I thought it would be easier and make better sense if I did it this way.
That way I could explain the pictures and really twist the knife.
(Right Julie?!)
Jools and I went to bingo last night. At a new place, in York. A real bingo place. Wow.
Welcome to the Clifton. I know it's hard to see...but that is the caller board and he stands at the lecturn up there. And he calls clear and loud and at a normal pace. The board at the very top tells you what game you are playing, what you are looking for to win and the prize amount.
Pretty clean huh?
Okay...so, at the side of table is this. Now... here's the fucking awesome thing.
You put the 20p in for the party bingo - and the left side 2 lights will light up, meaning the red board is on - if you put in another 20p, the right side, the blue board lights up. 2 boards, on slot. Then, you don't call.... you just put that button over the window that says 0. Then it automatically checks your board and ends the game. Then the dudes bring you your winnings. AWESOME. But, here's the best awesomeness.
See the 0? When they are calling - any game at all - the number calls shows in that box. So you can just glance over and see what number is coming. Just like the TV screens, which they have on the walls too.
And they have the electronic boards, so if you get those, you get away more boards - and you click a button that says Mark...and then it checks off that number on EVERY board. Julie will not miss anymore numbers! Then....if you win, it beeps and flashes winner..then you call! It's like...bingo for lazy people, so... I'm gonna totally do that, when we go back there on Monday.
It's BIG, it's CLEAN and ...they have a full buffet and bar. When you come back - we'll be going there and not Lucky Numbers, because ...as Jools calls it.."The Fleapit". Hahahahhaha!
The prizes are wayyyy bigger. There is a Link game that is worth 20K... yeah... I know! But, the smallest prize was party bingo - for £10- and..it's cheaper to play. The regular paper tickets are £9.99 for a whole book. Electronic is
£14.99 for 18 books. Yeah... I said EIGHTEEN. Brilliant, isn't it? The regular games, at the Fleapit are like £3/6 and 12... and at Clifton it's £10/15/50 or during the main session it's £15/30/100..some were 50/100/200 and 15/30/75..they were all varied but still way more than the pit.
There's Jools with her £75 winnings!
Don't be jealous, Jess... we will totally keep your seat warm...and your plate of awesome buffet food warm. :)
(I always think of Hot Shots when I say Part Deux)
I'm going to do this in parts, because I did it before and lost it right at the very end...
